Bar Clamps
Choosing and Using Bar Clamps
Bar clamps are a improvement over the original pipe clamps. The older versions were difficult to work with due to the top heavy
design. The would tip or roll over making a glue up twice as difficult as need be. Thankfully, those days are behind us now.
Sure Foot Aluminum Bar Clamps, a Rockler Exclusive, are well made and versitile. With four foot accessory extensions, they can be
extended 20 feet or longer. The the foot arrangement, they stay put and allow the user to concentrate on the glue up, instead of the clamp.

Yea, they do bind some, but it's no big deal. These are my favorite clamps and I usually buy a
pair whenever they go on sale. they are lightweight, hang easily on the wall and the clamping
pressure is directly above the bar- which is great for panel glue-ups. My pipe clamps put the
pressure about 1/2" above the bar which can create buckling if you don't support the piece which
is a hassle. I use the bar itself to help support the glue-up.
Also, the aluminum doesn't stain the wood. I haven't used my pipe clamps since I got these-
unless I use them all up.

These are very good clamps, easy to use and very stable. I already have other sizes that I use
all the time.

I like the stability of the clamps and I like them being much lighter than my pipe clamps.

I purchased 4 48" clamps on sale, and what a great value. I have not experienced any binding, but
my clamp pad on one of the clamps tended to deflect, pressing the clamp pads out of square. This
was only a problem on one of the clamps, so I took it back to Rockler for a replacement. The
replacement clamp works perfect.
I use very little clamping pressure so I do not have any over-torquing. The clamps are mainly
used for carcass and panel glue up. A coat of paste wax on the aluminum bar makes glue clean up a
snap.
I am waiting for the 24" clamps to go on sale so I can buy a set of 4. They are a great asset to
my shop.

I am very impressed with this product. I’m using the clamps for gluing up cabinet doors and
panels. I'm amazed how the doors lay perfectly flat on the bars. The doors and panels do not
require enormous amounts of pressure so I have not experience any jamming from being over
torqued. Because they are made from aluminum they are light in weight and not bulky like pipe
clamps. I highly recommend these clamps for all cabinet work.
